Ruger Raffle for USA Shooting Team
A Ruger Number 1 Rifle brought $25,000 at auction during the Western Hunting & Conservation Expo, held in Salt Lake City, Utah. The proceeds benefitted the USA Shooting Team. Expo host and USA Shooting sponsor the Wild Sheep Foundation (formerly known as the Foundation for North American Sheep) provided USAS with the fundraising opportunity to support the 2008 Olympic Shooting Team.
Industry partners TALO Distributors, Ruger, Baron Engraving, Hardigg Storm Case and Hornady Manufacturing contributed to the auction item, which included a one-of-a-kind engraved Ruger Number 1 rifle, travel case and ammunition.
“This was an amazing display of collaboration and support from industry partners that got involved and contributed to this project,” said Buddy DuVall, USAS director of marketing. “Bob Coyle with TALO came up with the idea of doing a big-game rifle for this auction, and the Ruger Number 1 in a .375 Ruger was a perfect fit.”
Since 2003, TALO has worked with the USA Shooting Team to produce two TALO Exclusive Ruger/US Shooting Team model rifles and a pistol, which have generated more than $250,000 in royalties for the U.S. Shooting Team.
